’PENYETZ was first established in Singapore in 2009 by Edy Ongkowijaya from a small humble beginning in Singapore. Today, D’PENYETZ has expanded globally to 6 countries (Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei and Malaysia) with more than 70 branches worldwide and planning to expand globally.

Since our debut in 1994, we have forged an identity of our own by combining the intricacies of sashimi with teppanyaki to offer the height of Japanese cuisine to the masses.

The father of the entrepreneur—the daughter who started this business—is the youngest among her uncles, making him the seventh uncle in the family. He has a great fondness for Hong Kong-style steamed rice noodle rolls (cheung fun) and long dreamed of opening a stall to sell them. Over the course of a few years, his daughter managed to save enough capital to launch the venture. With the help of her two uncles—both top-tier chefs—who fine-tuned the flavors of the ingredients, the stall was finally and successfully opened!
